Denison Community High School has a comprehensive curriculum program offering over one hundred courses. The main thrust of  the program is threefold: (1) to provide an educational program for college-bound  students; (2) to provide career education for students who will be entering the world of work; and (3) to develop positive thinking students who will become involved in solving problems, active in community affairs, and who will make our country a better place in which to live. The average Denison ACT composite score for the past five years is 21.1 (national average is 20.6). Denison’s dropout rate is less than 2% with 88% of students going on to some form of post high school education. 50% of graduating seniors go on to a four-year college and 80% complete the program they initiate.

With the completion of the new Denison Middle School Broadway Elementary was born.  Broadway Elementary houses the 4th and 5th grade students.

The middle school is organized into grades six, seven and eight. The sixth grade operates as a “school within a school” and follows a different schedule. The academic program emphasizes the mastery of basic skills, with exploratory courses being offered in computer literacy, art, industrial arts, home economics, speech, and careers. The extra-curricular program offers opportunities in instrumental and vocal music, interscholastic athletics, intramurals, and clubs.

Students begin their public school experience in the Denison Elementary School. The building was completed in 1979 with the capacity for 650 students k – 5. Small class sizes (19-25), a carefully developed curriculum, an award winning media program, plus a caring and dedicated staff make our elementary school program an outstanding one.

The Job Corps is a youth training program offered at no cost to 16 – 21 year old applicants who are legal residents of the United States. This unique program has just on objective – to prepare enrollees with the skills necessary to qualify for, and be placed in a good paying job. The education and training process allows students to move at their own pace. Students receive free room and board, free medical and dental care, clothes for work and for school, in addition to the training and education.

Western Hills Area Education Agency is an educational partner with 24 public school districts, as well as accredited private schools. Western Hills AEA offices are located in Denison and each of five other counties served in western Iowa. The agency provides direct special education support services for students, media and technology services, a variety of instructional services, and staff development and leadership to promote school improvement. The Iowa General Assembly created the Iowa's 15 AEAs in 1975. The system of educational service agencies is widely regarded as one of the finest in the country.

Western Iowa Tech Community College is housed in a beautiful new facility on the east edge of Denison. The Denison WITCC campus offers Associate of Arts Degrees and college transfer courses, Heating, Sheet Metal, Plumbing and Automotive programs, GED Programs, Licensed Practical Nursing programs and other specialized courses upon request.

WESCO Industries has been serving individuals with disabilities since 1968. Today, WESCO offers vocational and residential services to more than 120 individuals from Crawford County and surrounding Counties. Vocational services include work services, supported employment and school to work. Our residential services include RCF-MR and 24 hour and non 24 hour Supported Community Living. We also offer an alternative to working through our Adult Day Care program. This program is available to the elderly as well individuals with disabilities.
